Top 3 reasons NOT to use superglue on broken eyeglasses
When frames suddenly snap, or when parts break, the first thing most people do is reach for the superglue.
DO NOT reach for that glue! It may seem like a good idea but it’s only a TEMPORARY solution. To make sure that your glasses last for a long time it needs to be properly repaired. So in the style of Buzzed, here are my top 3 reasons to not use superglue on broken frames.
1. It’s harder to repair
The glue must be removed fully in order to get the best repair. If I can’t remove the glue I have to work around it & this creates a hindrance to giving a proper repair. As you can see below picture, one of customer was trying to fix with crazy glue. Oh NO!! Why not, you ask? So glad you did !! If we have to work around residue we can't completely remove, it makes it more difficult to make the best fix possible for your frames.
2. Higher chance of damage to the look of the frame
Although I try to be as careful as I can when fixing glasses, removing the glue might damage the frame. The original look of your frame will change & no one wants that to happen.
3. It’s costly
It takes a very long time to remove glue, which I'd rather spend on the actual repair itself. It also costs you time waiting for it to be returned to you. If you already attempted at a quick fix with crazy glue, do not worry. Like below picture, we are able to repair them completely without any damage.
